Tips to Steaming Milk & Making the Perfect Latte or Cappuccino

  1. Use a Cold Frothing Pitcher
  2. Cold Milk (of your choice)
  3. Good Machine
  4. Steam Milk to between 155 & 160 degrees

Making the Perfect Cappuccino

A Cappuccino is 1/3 Espresso, 1/3 Steam Milk, 1/3 Foam Milk

  1. Put less than half milk into frothing pitcher
  2. When steaming the milk slowly lower the pitcher to create good dense foam
  3. Keep lowering pitcher until you reach temperature
  4. Get your Espresso shot
  5. Pour slowly 1/3 steam milk onto the Espresso, holding back the foamed milk with a spoon
  6. Finish by adding 1/3 foamed milk on top of espresso and steam milk

Making the Perfect Latte

A Latte is 1/3 Espresso, 2/3 Steam Milk (No foamed milk)

  1. Put slightly more than half milk into frothing pitcher
  2. When steaming the milk do not lower pitcher (you want to create as little foam as possible)
  3. Keep steaming milk in pitcher until you reach temperature
  4. Get your Espresso shot
  5. Pour 2/3 steam milk onto the Espresso, go slow as you don’t want to break the crema

As you can see there is less milk in a cappuccino making it the lighter of the two drinks. We hope this quick blog helps you understand the difference, however I’m sure you’ll agree that both are delicious!
